The Sun Parakeet, also known as a rainbow in bird form. Such an amazing and befitting description to one of the most beautiful and vibrant bird species I have seen. There is a very interesting story around why I picked up this bird for my drawing. Ever since the lock down of 2020, there has been a pandemonium of parrots (approx 6-7 of them) which have been hovering around my house regularly. Their voices signal the wake-up call for me everyday as one of them comes to my window to wake me up. Believe it or not but these parrots actually managed to make me a early riser... somewhat! That is when I decided to draw these magnificent green birds. While referencing parrots I stumbled upon so many species of them and the Sun Parakeet caught my eye. They just stood out for me and I decided to take these up as a challenge for myself with color pencils. I'm sure they look much more vibrant in real life and I hope to see them in real some day. I also wish someday a Sun Parakeet comes and wakes me up :)
