Till this time I was indifferent to flowers. Never really thought much of them. One day I was referencing a few topics to draw and wanted to make something slightly different than the usual. I stumbled upon the photo of this beautiful Peony. It just struck me. It's pink with the light falling ever so slightly on the top. And the deep orange and red hues in its inside petals just won me over. I could relate to the inconsistency of its petals and their journey around the center. Not at all symmetrical but ever so beautiful. This Peony had my heart. And with this my love for flowers has begun. I don't know why I never noticed them. Guess I was too busy to notice the beauty around me. I'm definitely going to draw more flowers going forward. For now Peony is my favourite.
This art piece also marked my journey in scaling up the size and challenges I undertake. It's the biggest art piece I have made so far and I'm loving it. Taught me a whole new level of patience and calm. I believe making art is as much an inward journey as it is outward. While the world discovers new beauty, we discover the beauty in ourselves.
