Title : Moody

Canvas Size : 53 X 77 cms

Graphite Pencils + Charcoal

Marilyn Monroe. One of the most celebrated actresses of all time and definitely an icon. She embodies the famous life of a Hollywood star, but very few people know about the struggles she went through in her life. While selecting her photograph for my drawing, I wanted to pick something which truly showcased her as a human, and not as a star. There are many Iconic images of her, but this one caught my eye. Celebs are normal people too and they are entitled to moods. This is one such depiction where she is just herself and frankly a bit Moody :)

Drawing 'portraits' has been one of my biggest fears in the art journey. Maybe it’s the fear of failure. Hence I chose to draw Marilyn. She is perfect, so it became a formidable challenge. How do I get it right, how do I conquer my fear? While I enjoyed the process, there were times when I was going to tear if off. This is now the second hyperreal portrait I have made. Now you all be the judge.
