A sidekick is a slang expression for a close companion or colleague (not necessarily in fiction) who is, or is generally regarded as, subordinate to the one he or she accompanies. That is the wiki definition. For me, the Moon is the Earth's best friend. Never leaves his side, comes to meet everyday at night and shields the earth from all the meteors that the universe has to throw. Don't you see the circular scars on the moon's skin? That is the reminder of the years of battering Moon has taken to protect her best friend. And yet just like Earth, Moon is ever so beautiful. No amount of scars can tamper with her beauty.

Don't we all want a sidekick like this? Or rather... a BEST FRIEND!
